Setup and Experiment
Instructions for
Fixed Device: iPhone/iPad
Mobile Device: Android
Overview of Tasks:
1. Install and transmit beacons from the iOS app
2. Install the Android app on your mobile device
3. Perform the experiments as per the
instructions in the video attached towards the
end
iOS App Installation (1)
● Before you start make sure your phone is updated to
iOS 13.4.1 Software.
● Download Testflight from App Store.
● Open the app installed.
● Make sure you grant access to the
permissions required
● Turn on your Bluetooth
● Tap “Use your Phone as Fixed Device”
Set up Fixed Device (1)
● Tap “Save Phone Data”
Set up Fixed Device (2)
● Click the ‘Toggle to Beacon’ switch
● Scan QR code on receiver phone
when done collecting data
Set up Fixed Device (3)
● Tap “Allow from this source” if you are
installing via the QR code, otherwise
continue ahead
Android App Installation (2)
● Tap “Install Anyway” and “Don’t
Send” in the subsequent window
Android App Installation (3)
● Continue to “Open” the app.

Set up mobile device (1)
● Open the app you just installed on your
mobile device
● Ensure Bluetooth is turned on
● Tap “Use your phone as mobile
device”
● Select transmitter device name in drop
down.
● The device name, say for a person Bob,
would be like “Bob’s iPhone” or “Bob’s iPad”

● Tap “Start Experiments”

complete the experiments or see video
in the next slide for any clarifications.

Troubleshooting and
Uninstalling the app
● If there is some issue with data collection of any
experiments, you can redo the experiments by
clicking the ‘Delete Experiment Data’ button
● After the 4 experiments have been completed,
you can go ahead and uninstall the app.
