Our group works at the intersection of Wireless Communication, Sensing and Networking (hence WCSNG). We develop theory and algorithms with special focus on implementation and protyping of solutions in our impact areas. Our current impact areas include: wireless localization, sensing for autonomous driving, sensing for healthcare, spectrum sensing for next-generation networks, and wireless systems for VR/AR applications.
We have a multi-discplinary team with collaborative efforts across ECE, CSE and MAE departments. The group has a strong foundation in signal processing, system design and modeling. We use a wide repertoire of software to verify our theory and approach. We routinely work with wireless radios, both off-the-shelf and those designed in house. Our members are also experienced in data gathering and use popular machine learning techniques to expose cross-layer solutions to problems.
We develop state-of-the-art methods [P2SLAM, DLoc, BLoc, SpotFi] for sensing and locating WiFi devices and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) tags.
Developing spectrum sensing entities that scale to requirements of next-generation wireless networks.
Full Duplex from theory to practice. Managing self interference cancellation, and various applications.
Harnessing wireless backscatter for low-power communication, sensing and wireless channel conditioning.
We investigate privacy and security vulnerabilities in wireless systems, and develop defense mechanisms to address such vulnerabilities.
Sensing for autonomous vehicles, toward multi-sensor fusion and robust radar imaging.
We develop untethered VR with a robust, high-quality wireless communication link. Infrastructure-free VR enabled by wireless tracking of VR headset.
We are improving the communication rate, efficiency, low latency, and robustness using commodity WiFi and millimeter-wave radios.
We are looking for passionate new PhD students, Postdocs, and Master’s students to join the team (more info) !
